Such
criticism is expressed through the use of figurative language, particularly forms of
satire, in videos uploaded to the TikTok platform. This study aims to describe the
forms and functions of satirical language used in environmental critical discourse
in Samarinda City. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with an
ecolinguistic approach. The data source consists of utterances in TikTok videos
posted by the @kingtae.life account that address infrastructure and environmental
issues in Samarinda City. Data were collected through observation, note-taking, and
documentation techniques, while data analysis involved data reduction,
classification, analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the
forms of satirical language identified include irony, cynicism, sarcasm, and satire,
which are realized at the word, phrase, and sentence levels. Irony is used to convey
criticism indirectly through contrasting meanings; cynicism is employed to express
distrust toward the government; sarcasm is used to deliver criticism in a sharp and
explicit manner; while satire conveys social criticism through humor and
exaggeration. From an ecolinguistic perspective, the use of satirical language
reflects the interrelationship between language, society, and environmental
conditions in Samarinda City.
REQITA ZASKIA SYAHARAH, SYAMSUL RIJAL Copyright (c) 2026 https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/724 Fri, 23 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0000 METAFORA DAN PERSONIFIKASI DALAM PEMBERITAAN KRISIS LINGKUNGAN DI KUTAI TIMUR: Kajian Ekolinguistik Kritis https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/725
This study examines the use of personification and natural metaphors in mining
news discourse on the online media BeritaKutim.com from a critical ecolinguistic
perspective. In East Kutai Regency, extractive industry activities have massively
altered the physical landscape, which is then recorded in mass media narratives
through specific lexical choices. This study aims to (1) identify forms of
personification and natural metaphors in reporting on the environmental crisis in
East Kutai, and (2) uncover ecological ideologies and the fate of nature represented
in these journalistic practices. The research data consisted of news items collected
through a listening and note-taking method. The method used was a descriptive
qualitative approach with a critical ecolinguistic analysis stage. The results show
that environmental news in East Kutai frequently uses metaphors and
personification to strengthen meaning and build emotional impressions on readers.
Metaphors are used to describe energy inequality, environmental damage, and
threats to people's living spaces, while personification is used to present
environmental conditions more vividly. In addition, the analysis of ecological
ideology shows that the media tends to favor environmental preservation, protection
of indigenous peoples, and criticism of the exploitation of natural resources.
LINDA ADHA PRIYANTI, SYAMSUL RIJAL, SYAMSUL RIJAL Copyright (c) 2026 https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/725 Fri, 23 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0000 JENIS-JENIS INTERJEKSI DALAM INTERAKSI SOSIAL MASYARAKAT TANAH RATA KECAMATAN BANDA KABUPATEN MALUKU TENGAH https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/726
Interjections are words or phrases used to express strong feelings or emotions, such
as joy, sadness, surprise, and pain, and frequently occur in everyday social
interactions. This study aims to describe the types of interjections used in the social
interactions of the Tanah Rata Village community, Banda District, Central Maluku
Regency. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The data consist of
oral utterances containing interjections in the form of words, phrases, or sentences
produced by members of the Tanah Rata Village community. The participants were
residents of Tanah Rata Village who were engaged in everyday social interactions.
Data were collected using participatory and non-participatory observation, note
taking, and audio recording. A mobile phone was used as the recording device,
while an observation sheet was used to document relevant data. The data were
analyzed using the Miles and Huberman flow model, which consists of data
reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal ten types of
interjections used in the social interactions of the Tanah Rata Village community:
(a) disgust, (b) annoyance, (c) admiration, (d) hope, (e) gratitude, (f) astonishment,
(g) surprise, (h) invitation, (i) calling or addressing, and (j) concluding remarks. The
use of interjections reflects the community's linguistic strategies for expressing
thoughts and emotions in everyday communication. These findings may serve as a
reference for comparative studies of interjections in speech communities from other
regions and as teaching material for Indonesian Morphology courses that
incorporate local wisdom.
FILDA LAOPI , MUHAMMAD MIFTAH SABBAN , MUJIATI LA SAADI Copyright (c) 2026 https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/726 Fri, 23 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0000 PENGUATAN NILAI-NILAI TARIAN PETIK PALA DAN PUKUL RABANA UNTUK GENERASI BANDA https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/727
This study analyzes the values embedded in the Petik Pala Dance and Pukul Rabana
(Hadrat) and the strategies for strengthening them among the younger generation
of Banda Neira. It employs a qualitative, phenomenological case study design. Data
were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus group
discussion, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model
of Miles, Huberman, and SaldaƱa. The findings show that the movements of the
Petik Pala Dance represent the stages of nutmeg harvesting while expressing
gratitude and ecological knowledge, whereas Pukul Rabana reflects the
acculturation of Islamic, Middle Eastern, European, Malay, and local elements
through drumming and verse. Together, the two art forms shape collective identity
and transmit historical, spiritual, and social values across generations. Informants
were concerned about declining youth interest, yet the involvement of young people
in dance and music groups was seen as an opportunity for regeneration.
Strengthening these values requires tiered cultural education through local content
curricula,
comprehensive documentation, cross-sector collaboration, and
adaptation that safeguards spiritual meaning and authenticity.
FITRAYA HAYALAN, ISMIT SAIMAN Copyright (c) 2026 https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/727 Fri, 23 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0000 INTEGRASI KONSEP GEOMETRI DALAM TARIAN CAKALELE BANDA NAIRA SEBAGAI PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERBASIS BUDAYA https://josths.id/ojs3/index.php/paradigma/article/view/728
Advances in science and technology call for greater innovation and creativity in
making mathematics education more enjoyable.
